Rev. William F. “Bill” Johnson

June 22, 1929 — August 29, 2016

William Johnson was born on June 22, 1929 to his parents, Joe and Cordia Johnson, in Braggadocio, Missouri. At the young age of 26, William became a pastor and moved to the greater St. Louis area where he served in several churches. He also opened several new churches during his career. At the age of 87, on August 29, 2016, he was called to serve in his new church in heaven.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Vickie Johnson Chandler; his grandson, Elton Skinner, Jr.; his brother, Debizze Johnson; and his sister, Catherine Frost.

William is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Norma Johnson; three daughters, Debra (Roy) Johnson Doskal, Beverly (Ronald) Johnson McDonald, and Pamela (Elton) Johnson Skinner. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as a lifetime of friends and acquaintances.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War during 1946 and 1947.

William and Norma were married on September 17, 1955 in St. Louis, MO.

His passion was the Lord. He started preaching at several churches in the St. Louis area during his lifetime. He was a pastor who truly loved the Lord.

Next to his faith, William loved his family. They spent many summers on the Mississippi River fishing, boating, and teaching the girls to ski.

William also had a love for music. He mastered playing several different guitars, but his true gift was playing the steel guitar.
