Mary L. Smith

Smith, Mary L., (nee: Herbst), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the age of 67. Mary was the loving partner of 9 years to Steve Watkins; devoted mother of Ann (Rodney) Kasper, Debbie (Dan) Novack, and Patti (Mike) Muensterman; treasured grandmother of Dallas Kasper, Jonathan Kasper, Megan Kasper, Hannah Novack, Max Novack, Emily Muensterman, and Jake Muensterman; dear sister of Tom Herbst, Sherry (Jim) Schmid, and Rich (Sherry) Herbst. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Smith; her parents, Everett and Mabel Herbst; and her sister, Joan Hoven

Mary worked for Citi Mortgage for 25 years, but her most important job was caring for her three daughters. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, cooking, baking, going to garage sales, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. You could always find Mary at her grandchildren’s sporting events. Mary was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
