Carl E. Kurtz

June 19, 1936 — August 29, 2016

Kurtz, Carl Eugene of Saint Charles, MO, died on Monday August 29, 2016, at the age of 80.

Carl was the loving husband of 59 years to Wanda Kurtz; beloved son of the late Raymond and Dorothy Kurtz; devoted father of Laurie (Dale) Kannawurf and Crystal (John) Ott; cherished grandfather of Kyle Kannawurf and Clair Ott; dear brother of Donna Kurtz and brother-in-law of Joyce (Thomas) Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

After graduating high school, Carl went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army for a brief time. He then went to college in Inglewood, CA where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. All of this lead him and his family to move to the St. Louis area so that he could begin his career with McDonnell Aircraft. He worked for McDonnell Aircraft/McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing for over 55 years, where he worked as a Technical Data Writer for the F4H Phantom and, most recently, as the Service Awards Program Administrator. In Carl’s spare time, he loved to go fishing, especially at their cabin on the lake in Owensville, MO. He also enjoyed just spending time outdoors, in general, and keeping busy. Most of all, he was a true family man at heart who loved to spend quality time and make memories with the ones he loved. Carl will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.
