Nancy L.
Lipp
May 17, 1958 — Oct 19, 2026
Nancy Lee Lipp, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Sunterra Springs in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri after a battle with bone cancer. She passed in the presence of her brother, William Lipp, and friend Joyce Wempe. Nancy was born on May 27, 1958 in Indianapolis to Harold W. and Mary E. Lipp. She attended school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Indianapolis, Indiana (Arlington High School); and Overland Park, Kansas graduating from Shawnee Mission North as a member of the class of 1976. She earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and business administration from the University of Kansas in 1988.
Nancy worked as an accounting professional, notably with Union Pacific, Jefferson Wells, MEMC, and Suddenlink, before finishing her career at the United States Postal Service.
Despite this being her third battle with cancer, having survived breast cancer in 1995 and 2012, Nancy always stayed positive. A loyal friend, she would listen without judgment, celebrate your victories, and offer a steady hand during challenging times, but always with her signature literalist humor. She loved roller coasters, bowling, softball, the Jayhawks, and the St. Louis Rams before their betrayal.
She is survived by her beloved dog, Mollie; her brother, William Lipp (Fay Kandarian), of San Diego, California; her sister, Carolyn Gorup (Neil), of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and Linda Stokes (Keith), widow of her brother Richard, of Lenexa, Kansas. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Richard.
She is also survived by her siblings’ children: Thomas Lipp (Matthew Halgren), Jesi Lipp, and Mary Clow (Nicholas); and her grandnieces and grandnephew: Isabella and Madeline Clow, Ingrid and Henrik Halgren.
She is further survived by her step siblings: Roger Borel (Marilyn), Becky Thomas, Timothy Borel (Penny), and April Borel; her step-nieces and step-nephews: Aimee Thomas, Arwen White (Richard), Jesse Thomas Alvarez (Sedona), Tucker Borel (Ashlee), Timothy Borel, Jacques Borel, and Pierre Borel (Adrianna); and her step-grandnieces and step-grandnephew: Cybil and Siobhan White and Theodore Borel.
Nancy requested that no formal memorial or service be held. If there had been one, it would have ended with everyone dancing to “Y.M.C.A.” so that they could leave on an upbeat note. Nancy chose to donate her body to science at Washington University and will be memorialized next to her parents in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens in Shawnee, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to an animal shelter in your area as Mollie was rescued off the street. The many friends and family that visited Nancy in those last days of her sudden decline are a testament to just how much she was loved and will be missed.
