Martha L. White

October 16, 1938 — January 11, 2022

Martha L. White, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the age of 83. Loving wife 31 years to the late Charles R. White; beloved daughter of the late Eleanor and Henry Schloeman; wonderful mother of Robert White (Niki Theodosiou); devoted grandmother of Isaac White, Emily White, Alison White.  Martha is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Brandie White, and Zoe Griffith, Niki’s daughter.  She was also preceded in death by her dear sister Betty (Bill) Anderson and their daughter, Patti, and her brother Alexander “Sonny” (Genevieve “Gen”) Schloeman.

Martha retired after more than 38 years of employment with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. Upon retirement she was able to spend more time with her family and friends doing all the things she loved to do in life!

Martha was a classic car enthusiast and loved her 1958 Thunderbird and her little red Mustang convertible. She and her husband, Charles, founded First Capitol Classics Car Club in 1980 and they put on a charity car event, Wheels in Motion, each year for kids with cancer.  She loved Elvis and enjoyed his music and films. She also loved to watch any movie or show with Charlie Sheen in it.

Traveling was one of Martha’s favorite activities. She enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends to the beach, a folk concert, or a fair. She took many road trips to the mountains and other scenic places across the country with her husband. One town on the top of her list was New Orleans for Mardi Gras! She loved collecting beads, eating the King Cakes, and watching the parades.

Martha liked to stay fit, and it was important to her to exercise regularly. She loved the water and swimming and was often seen at the pool, and she loved taking her grandkids with her. She enjoyed the outdoors, and as a sports fan, she always looked forward to going the ballpark to watch the St. Louis Cardinals.  She also dabbled in photography and had so much fun taking pictures of family and friends.

Above all else, Martha’s family meant the world to her, and she loved spending time with them. She made sure to always have her “special sauce” for her grandkids, which was mashed up carrots mixed with applesauce, and the grandkids loved it!

Martha loved animals and often donated to the National Humane Society. Her love for animals started with the family German Shepherd, Lady. She took in a stray cat named Tinkerbell that became a regular part of the family. She also gave a loving home to a tiny Pomeranian named Franklin, her son’s family dog.

Martha was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be made in Martha's name to Wheels in Motion Charity Car Show
