Wilma Louise Johndrow

July 13, 1932 — March 17, 2017

Wilma (Louise) Johndrow (nee Welsch), passed away on March 17, 2017 in Wentzville, MO at 12:19 AM after a short illness. Don’t you dare call her Wilma! All her life she has gone by Louise, Wilma is fighting words! She was a beautiful energetic loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Always on the move, working, organizing and taking care of her family. She was mowing and doing her own yardwork up until last year. Boundless energy was the best way to describe her. The grandkids always loved the holidays at Grandma’s house: On Easter she dressed up like the Easter Bunny to hide the eggs and entertain the kids. On Christmas she donned her Santa’s cap to hand out presents to the family. Shopping was in her DNA, always searching for a bargain and buying gifts specific to that family member’s personality.

Born on July 13, 1932 in Puxico, Missouri. Puxico is a sleepy town in Southeast Missouri where not much is going on and work is not plentiful. As a child during the depression her father George (Bus) Welsch was a master mechanic ((her Mother was Ethyl Marie Welch (nee: Tanner)) and took the family cross country looking for and finding work in many different cities to support the family. Among the many towns she lived in: Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO; Colorado Springs, CO and Bakersfield, CA. and many states in between. Mom had a striking resemblance to Jackie Kennedy in her younger years. She and my Father Floyd (Bud) have been married for 67 years on April 8. They were married in 1950 and were blessed with 3 children: Dennis Johndrow of Naperville, IL; David Johndrow of St. Peters, MO and Linda Huson of O’Fallon, MO. She is Grandmother to 8: Denny Johndrow, Kim Galan, Ryan Johndrow; David Johndrow Jr, Scott Johndrow, Sheri Burns; Cheli Huson and  Brad Huson  and Great Grandmother to 8: Austin Galan, Brynn Galan, Lily Prine; Logan Johndrow, Bryce Johndrow, Braydon Burns; Brooke Huson and Kendall Huson.

She was preceded in death by her Father George Edward Welsch, Mother Ethyl Marie Welsch (nee Tanner) Sister Evelyn (Delores) Sampson, Brother Glenn (Sonny) Leroy Welsch, Sister Sharon Welsch, Nephew George Edward Welsch, Niece Donna Louise Ketner, and Grandson: Dennis (Denny) Johndrow Jr. of Chicago, IL.

Louise will be best remembered for her outstanding cooking, energy, travel, and love of family.

Her sense of adventure led her and Bud to take all 8 Grandchildren (ages 6-11) on a trip to Niagara Falls, New York, a trip the kids will never forget.

Louise will be best remembered for her outstanding cooking, energy, travel, and love of family. May she rest in peace.  Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust, Louise in now in the Lord’s trust.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
