William F. “Bill” Phelan

William F. “Bill” Phelan, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at the age of 83.  Loving husband of 62 years to Kathryn Phelan (nee:  Hughes); beloved son of the late Edward and Marie Phelan; devoted father of Debbie (Glenn) Meyer, Vickie (Skip) McGuire, the late William F. Phelan, Jr., and late infant son; cherished grandfather of Trey McGuire III and Emma McGuire; and dearest brother of Florence Anderson and Richard Phelan. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Goode, Edward Phelan, Robert Phelan, James Phelan, and Leona Hardage.  Bill is also survived by his treasured Yellow Lab, Tana.

Bill worked most of his life as a carpenter, and retired from McDonnell Douglas.  He was among the elite who built Busch Stadium II for the St. Louis Cardinals.  He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, Rams, as well as his favorite college teams.  He especially loved watching his grandson play football, and his granddaughter play soccer and volleyball.  In his spare time, Bill liked working in the yard, and growing tomatoes.  He was deeply loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
