Kroeger, Walter D., of Saint Charles, MO, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the age of 90. Walter was the loving husband of the late Jeanine Rose Kroeger (nee: Stamer); beloved son of the late Walter C. and Clara Kroeger (nee: Albrecht); devoted father of Charles (Laura) Kroeger, Ann (Daniel) Pacewic, Amy (Roger) McMahill, Jill (Mark) Wooldridge, Jane (David) Hopkins, and Timothy (Christy) Kroeger; dear father-in-law of Denny Niehaus; cherished grandfather of thirteen; and treasured great-grandfather of six. Walter was also preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Niehaus; and his sisters, Loretta Flemming and Lorine Heidinger.
Walter was a Navy World War II Veteran and proud grandfather of Marine and Navy Seamen. He worked as a Technical Engineer with Ozark Airlines for 31 years before retiring in 1986 and went on to own and operate Kroeger Heating and Cooling until 2003.Walter was an active member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ and the resident handyman. He was also a mechanic who worked on championship dirt cars and midget race cars. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and hosting fish fries and barbecues. Walter was definitely hard-working and truly a great man. He is being missed by Lacy, his loyal canine companion; and Joan, his loving partner of the past 6 years, who gave him a second chance at life after the loss of Jeanine. While we are all heartbroken we know, he is in the arm of our Heavenly Father and the embrace of his wife, sister, and others who love him. His legacy will live on. Walter was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made to Five Acres Animal Shelter or Good Shepherd United Church of Christ.
