Clooney, Vincent P., of St. Charles, MO, died on Friday, December 9, 2016, at the age of 91. Beloved son of the late Patrick and Veronica Clooney; loving uncle of Mary Lee (John) Sonderman, Frances Hahn, Geraldine (the late William) L. Bass, Kathleen (Richard) Anconetani, Patrick Clooney, Mary (Bob) Jentsch, James (Vicki) Clooney, Joseph Clooney, and Thomas (Marilyn) Clooney; and also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Al (Margaret) Clooney, Leo (Catherine) Clooney, Gerard (Grace) Clooney, and Joseph Clooney, and his nephew, Michael Clooney. Beloved cousin and dear friend to many.
Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge, landing on Normandy beach, serving under General Patton. He was the Past Commander of Post #338 A.L.; Post #9731 VFW; Post #3060 VFW, and 13th District VFW. Vincent was past president of the Ozark Chapter of the 94th Infantry Division Association. Vincent was currently a member of VFW #2866 St. Charles, MO.
Vincent was a member of NARFE #112; White House Retreatant; Camp #65 Sons of Union Vets of the Civil War; AMVETS #55; Post #404 A.L. Auxiliary; VFW #3206; 10th Dist A.L. Guard of Honor; St. Louis Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge; member of Legion of 1000 Men West and North. Member of the 94th Infantry Division Association and member of the 75th Infantry Division Association.
In June of 1987, Vincent received recognition as an inductee of the Order of Distinguished Older Missourians from the Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Aging, and was presented with a plaque by Janet Ashcroft, wife of Governor John Ashcroft.
