Vincent Arter Sr., “The Leader of the Band,” of St. Peters, MO, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the age of 75. Loving husband of JoAnn M. Arter of 53 years; beloved son of the late George, Sr. and Marie Arter-Hurt; devoted father of Vincent L. (Elaine) Arter, Jr.; treasured grandfather of three; cherished great-grandfather of four. Vincent is preceded in death by his son, Christopher, and dear brother George Arter, Jr.
Music was his passion. He most enjoyed playing guitar and writing worship music. He taught music and guitar to many students over the past 60 years. He was the leader of The Vince Arter Set band in the sixties and seventies where his brother, George, played bass and his wife, JoAnn, sang lead vocals. The band was part of The Gaslight Square era in St. Louis where they performed with many other famous musicians of that time. From the eighties, up until his passing, Vince was pastor of the Christian Fellowship Church in St. Charles, Missouri.
He was a man of profound faith and loved by many who attended the Christian Fellowship Church. Vince also held executive sales management roles with Cerro Copper and Spears Manufacturing throughout his career. Vince was a leader and the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Vince was dedicated to his family, his wife and church, but mostly his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Vince was loved greatly by his family and congregation and will be greatly missed.
