Vernon Louis Philipps of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday, March 7, 2019. Vernon is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred “Millie”(nee Schroeder) Philipps of 69 years ; his children, Robert (Sharon) Philipps and Debra (Mark) Coons; his grandchildren, Kathryn (Terry) Wenger, Andrew (Keeley) Philipps, Tyler (Megan) Coons, Samuel Coons and the late Jessica Philipps; his great-grandchildren, Connor Wenger, Charles Philipps, Brendan Wenger, Annabelle Philipps, Alexander Wenger, and Carson Coons; a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Effie Philipps; his siblings, Evelyn Gerdts, Helena Boschert, Freddie Philipps, and Hank Philipps.
Vernon proudly served his nation in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for sixty-nine years and a member of the St. Louis, MO Carpenters Local. Vernon had a green thumb and would spend a lot of time out in the garden tending to his flowers and vegetables. Not only did he grow a garden, but a family of faith which he instilled in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving Old Papa who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vernon was also a talented wood worker and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
