Vern F. Stammen, of O’Fallon, MO, died on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the age of 85. He was the loving husband of the late Bethryn L. Stammen for almost 30 years; beloved son of the late Joseph and Bernadine Stammen; devoted father of Dell (Karen) Fields; cherished grandfather of Katie Fields; dear brother of Phyllis (Ray) Miller, Betty (Kenny) Werling, and Thomas Stammen; and brother-in-law of Al Fleckenstein. Vern proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he went on to work for TWA Airlines for 35 years, where he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor in 1993. Vern took pride in helping others, whether he was fixing a car, doing yard work, or fixing something around their house. When he wasn’t keeping himself busy with a project, he enjoyed watching CNN and WWII documentaries, and spending Friday nights with friends. Vern was a very intelligent and kind man who will be missed by his family and friends.
