Valentine W. “Bill” Plate, Jr.

Valentine W. “Bill” Plate, Jr., of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of his late first wife, Evelyn Plate; and his late second wife, Judy Plate; cherished son of the late Valentine W., Sr., and Florence Plate; devoted father of Rick (Linda) Plate, Valerie (John) Coates, Sharon (Kerry) Wengert, Sheryl (Ron) Cheek, Mike (Molly) Plate, Margo (Rick) Samnee, Bill Plate, and Bob Plate; loving grandfather of fourteen; treasured great-grandfather of fifteen.

Bill is also preceded in death by his brother, Bob Plate.

Bill proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. The “Old Man” was a lifelong milkman, working for various dairy companies throughout the years. Bill was very athletic and pitched for the St. Louis Browns in his younger days. He was also an avid golfer, fisherman, and bowler (once bowling a 300 game). Bill lived a long healthy life, never meeting a stranger. He left a memorable impression on everyone he came in contact with and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the American Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation.
