Terrance M. Cronin

An O’Fallon MO love story.

Hey, how are you? Would you like to go out sometime?

Those were the words yelled over the engine rev of an orange 1973 Corvette that was being worked on by a blond hair, blue eyed, muscular, overly tanned 250 lb. bombshell.

So began an enduring love and friendship.

Dependent on Terry for strength, honest love, guidance, and knowledge in perhaps an unconventional yet unconditional, unapologetic life together for over 35 years. We shared many joys, challenges, triumphs and sorrows. He spent the last months of his life gripping and holding the hands of the love of his life, receiving 100% support and care.

Though divorced, Terry in his final days said, how I looked like someone he’d like to get together with. We were never closer than those last 2 months.

Terry was the best friend anyone could ever have in the whole world. Just the same were some of his closest lifelong friends such as, Mike Gierten, Billy Conkin, Danny Fischer, as well as his dear Troy neighbors the Hoehn family, plus many co-workers throughout his life and especially those during his time working at the City, and too many more to name. He knew half of O’Fallon and beyond. To those he encountered, he became friends. He was kind, confident, sweet, caring, and a very take-charge guy who never gave up or never gave in, with a little stinker attitude thrown in, just because.

He loved his dogs, Good Golly Ms. Molly, Estella Joan, and Sir Reginald Von Blitzen. He loved maths. He was vehicle crazy. He loved his parents Patrick and Mabel Cronin, and family, Val and Glennon Myers Jr., Jesse (Stephanie) Grelle, Lauren (James) Grelle-Athanasiou, Emily (Tim) Petrillo, (great niece and great nephew) Stevie and Zachary Petrillo, along with relatives in Riverdale CA-the Acquistapace family.

Terry passed away at 10:50pm on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at SLU hospital. It was the last of multiple different hospital visits, over a nearly 2-month period.

Terry succumbed to an unimaginable fate bestowed upon his precious soul, with so much unjust additional bodily suffering, that it is beyond comprehension, beyond medically ethical, and totally inexcusable.

It rained heavy and hard the night of Terry’s passing, perhaps a reflection of the steady stream of extreme hurt and sorrow, due to such a great loss, of such a great guy.

Very thankful today for the life of Terry Cronin, and moreover thankful for the fact that he is no longer in any pain.

Always loved, Terry will be always missed, and certainly never forgotten.  He is in the hearts of so many.
