Steven Story

October 24, 1953 — November 25, 2020

Steven James Story, of O Fallon, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 67. Beloved husband of 44 years to Caron Story; cherished son of Joyce and the late Gerald Story; son-in-law of Elizabeth (the late Willis) Gerdiman; devoted father of Jessica (Kyle) Noonan and Ross (Laura) Story; loving grandfather of Gwen Story, Liam Noonan, and Finn Noonan; dear brother of the late Sharon (Tom) Nipper; Steven is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Steve proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy, Army and Air National Guard. He also worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 32 years. Steven was always taking care of his family. As a husband, he always shared never-ending love, support, comfort, fun surprises, funny cartoons, sweet notes and beautiful flowers. As a father he was always there for his kids to count on for his love, advice, help, fun, laughter and of course, discipline when needed. As a grandfather for his grandchildren to look up to, idolize and love just being around him.

Steve was a bold, adventurous man. In the Navy he traveled the world and always volunteered for that extra chance to see someplace new. Steven and his family had many trips abroad, including Australia, New Zealand, England, Wales and Scotland.

His mind was always working on how to conquer a task or teach himself a new skill. The perfectionist in him brought out his talents and made his work turn out beautifully. His talents included scrimshaw, leatherworking, woodworking, gunsmithing, shooting, and BBQ.

Steve was in his element being outdoors.  He loved hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, observing nature and survival techniques.  He always said he felt closest to God when he was outdoors.  We are sure he is now with God and his pain is gone. We can envision Steve now getting started on his next project.

He will always be an amazing man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Steven's name to American Cancer Society.
