Shirley M. Poeling (nee: Achepohl) of St. Charles, MO, died Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the age of 91. Loving mother of Gerald Poeling and his wife Donna, Sharon Meyer and her husband Ted, and Tom Poeling; dear grandmother of Robin McEvoy and her husband Mac, Rusty Meyer and his wife Stacy, Christopher Meyer and his wife Leah, Angela Poeling, Noah Poeling and his wife Kimberly, Charlie Poeling and his wife Elizabeth, and Luke Poeling and his wife Pricillah; and treasured great-grandmother of 11. Shirley was also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Georgia "Augusta" Achepohl; her husband, Charles "Boots" Poeling; her son, Kevin Poeling; special companion, Elmer Jackson; and her siblings, Kenneth Achepohl and Frances Shook.
Shirley was a very spirited and outgoing lady. She was a long-time, active member of St. John United Church of Christ and she worked as a professional driver in the St. Charles area for many years. Shirley and her husband, Boots, also played on a bowling league for many years, where they made many dear friends. Some of her hobbies included playing bingo, gardening, and taking a walk every day. She especially liked walking at Blanchette Park with her daughter, Sharon. She was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.
