Shirley Ann Hibbeler

September 20, 1936 — August 15, 2021

Shirley Ann Hibbeler (nee Haislip), of O Fallon, MO, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Oliver Hibbeler, Jr.; cherished daughter of the late Elroy Frederick and Adell A. Haislip; devoted mother of Cheryl (Jim Karll) Hibbeler, Mark (Lynn) Hibbeler and Laurie (Paul McGowan) Hibbeler McGowan; loving grandmother of Chris Pieper, Daniel (Mina Joo) Pieper, Eric (Nidhi) Little, Nicholas Hibbeler, Adam (Jessica) Hibbeler and Kathleen McGowan; loving great grandmother of Max, Luke, Jacob, Joseph, and Julie Pieper; Violet, Julian Hibbeler; Neela, Roman Little. Dear sister of Dennis (Janet) Haislip; Shirley is also survived by a host of loving brother and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

Shirley cherished her time spent with Ollie at Lake of the Ozarks where she drove the school bus for the School of the Osage. She loved getting to know the new kids every year for 18 years. Her fondest memories were of their travels together with the collector clubs that Ollie belonged to.  Their annual trips with the American Brewery Association, Just for Openers Club and the National Fishing Lures Collectors Club created so many tales to tell later.  As long as Shirley was able to stop at the casinos, they found along the way they were both their happiest on those trips.  Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life, and she did her best to keep up with everyone.  She accompanied her family on every trip possible up until the week before her death. She never met a stranger, was very well put together and loved to be with and around family. She loved talking to people and making them feel special. Her favorite saying is "When you meet me you may not like me, but you'll never forget me". Shirley was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made to American Stroke Association. In lieu of any donations we ask that, like Shirley, you try to make a new friend and be kind every day. Smile at someone you don't know and make them feel loved.
