Sherman Gerald Jones

February 17, 1930 — August 27, 2019

Sherman Gerald Jones born February 17, 1930 went to be with his Lord on August 27, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottie and Lela Jones and his beloved wife, Burlene May Jones.  He was married to Burlene for 63 years.   


He proudly served in the US Air Force as a radio technician after WWII, serving in Germany. 


He worked as a lineman for Union Electric until he retired in 1990.  He was an over 50-year member of the IBEW Local 1439.  


For 17 years his retirement was spent part-time in Bradenton, Florida. He moved back to O’Fallon, MO until his death. 


He was an active member of 1st Assembly of St. Charles.  He was proud to work in the kitchen during the church’s outreach of “The Lot”.  He supported missions, Speed the Light Buddy Barrels and other activities of the church.   


He is survived by his children Sheryl Jones (Gary Zahorksy), Deborah Jones and Steven Jones.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sue Flippin, nieces; Kim Simon (Dennis), Roxie Klein (Doug), Terri Clover (Lennie) nephews; Jim Morrill (Mary) and Mike Montes (Barb); many great-nieces and great-nephews; close extended family Joy and Bob Daugherty, Janet Phelps (Richard), Debora Temples (Bo) and special friend Sandy Rhodes.
