Ronald Gary Brasher

July 9, 1952 — August 23, 2020

Ronald Gary Brasher, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the age of 68. Loving husband of Kathryn Ann Brasher; beloved son of the late Grady and Beulah Brasher; devoted father of Timothy Brasher and wife Vanezza Herrera, and Michael Brasher and wife Emily; cherished grandfather of Izabela, Diego, Cazandra, and Eleanor. Ron is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Brasher, Thomas Brasher, Harold Brasher, and sister, Doris Dixon. Ron is survived by many nieces and nephews who were also like brothers and sisters to him.

Ron’s humble beginnings instilled in him a hard work ethic and optimistic outlook. He learned to be loving and kind because of the people he looked up to as a child. Ron worked for Ford Motor Company for 47 years from 1969-2016, during which time his integrity and dependability made him legendary. He appreciated the opportunity to mentor so many great Ford colleagues over the years. Ron even transferred to Mexico for a few months so he could be near his grandchildren.

After his retirement, Ron wasted no time filling his schedule with activities that brought him even closer to those he loved. Ron golfed often and cherished time with his golf buddies. He enjoyed reading books – especially autobiographies – and absorbed every interesting fact and detail so he could share and teach others. What he loved the most was time with his family, especially his grandkids. In the four years since his retirement, Ron lived every grandfather’s dream with activities like: vacations near and far (including his favorite place, Hawaii), watching Cardinals and Blues games, standing family dinner night (with wine tastings), attending grandkids’ games and swim meets, working in the yard and on his rose bushes, giving rides in his convertible, helping with homework, taking grandkids to school (often stopping for donuts), giving back rubs, mini golfing, and perhaps his most iconic of activities, sitting on the front porch with a grandkid in his lap watching it rain.

A visitation will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 5th at 12:30 p.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration meal immediately afterward. All are welcome to attend. The church is following COVID-19 precautions and is located at 2800 Elm Street, St. Charles, MO, 63301. Additionally, the 2:00 pm celebration of life service will be live-streamed and can be connected to by clicking here.

It gave Ron great joy to volunteer at the church preschool. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of donations to the church preschool are being requested. Donations can be made by clicking here or via check made out to “Our Savior Church” with “Ron Brasher Memorial” in the memo section.
