Rodney Charles Zerr, of Saint Peters, MO, died on Monday March 27, 2017, at the age of 64. Loving husband of Jeri Louise Zerr (nee: Dunlap), beloved son the late Elmer George and Lillian Grace Zerr (nee: Gross); devoted father of Christie (Timothy) Abbington, Cassaundra (Fiance Timothy Ottison) Zerr, William Zerr, and Allen Zerr; cherished grandfather of Autumn and Aubree Vaughn, Elijah, Jonah, and Nova Ottison; dear brother of Richard (Judy) Zerr and Steven (Gayla) Zerr; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Rod was the former St. Charles County Emergency Management Director. He has always had a passion for community service especially in public safety roles for the St. Charles City Police, St. Charles County Sheriff Department, and St. Charles County Ambulance District among others, and had been a public servant for over 33 years. Rod had a background in broadcast journalism, radio production, emergency communication, public safety coordination, and emergency management. He enjoyed amateur HAM radio, was a Mizzou and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved spending time with his German Shepherd Dogs. Rod graduated from Chaminade College Prep in St. Louis in 1971 and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO, in 1974. He served on the Board of Directors of the St. Charles Amateur Radio Club and was involved with: St. Charles County Search-Rescue-Recovery, Emergency Communication Association of St. Charles County, German Shepherd Dog Club – St. Louis, Saturday Writers, O’Fallon Photo Club, St. Charles County Democrats, and A.R.R.L. Rod was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
