Robert “Bob” Burke, of Wentzville, MO, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at the age of 92. Loving husband of the late Dorothy Burke; beloved son of the late Martin T. and Adeline E. Burke; devoted father of Sharon (Terry L.) Hagan and Bob (Mary Lou) Burke; cherished grandfather of Melissa (Eric) Shimkus, Bob Burke, Laura (Jesse) Stansberry, Mike (Andrea) Burke, Doug (Becky) Burke, and Mary (Guy) Persinger; treasured great-grandfather of Emma Hagan, Steven Hagan, Anabelle Burke, Mackenzee Shimkus, Grace Burke, Mike Burke, Mason Burke, Henry Burke, Lucas Burke, Catherine Persinger, and Clara Persinger. Robert is preceded in death by his son, Mike (survived by Mary) Burke; two grandsons, Steven Lee Hagan and Rick Robert Hagan.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Terex after 37 years of service as a Parts Manager. Robert was a member of Teamsters Union and was a former member of the American Legion. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in New Melle, MO. Robert volunteered a great deal - serving on the Wentzville Parks and Recreation Board and volunteering for Wentzville Parks, and at St. Joseph Hospital West. He was awarded Citizen of the Year in Wentzville, MO in 2011, and received a similar award for the State of Missouri.
Robert enjoyed bowling and golfing. He bowled on the Navy Bowling League, and eventually went on to bowl three 300 games. Robert was in the bowling hall of fame. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert's name to Masses or to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church – New Melle, MO.
