Richard “Dick” Burton, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the age of 93. Loving husband of 69 years to Ruth Burton; devoted father of Becky (Charlie) Ell and the late Rickey Burton; cherished grandfather of Jamie Hampshire and Joshua Hampshire; treasured great-grandfather of Amber, Megan, Andrew, Beverley, and Hailey Hampshire. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Florence Burton; and his brother, James Burton.

Dick proudly served his country in United States Navy during World War II. He later had a successful career as an aircraft mechanic. Dick was strong in his faith and active in his church. He also volunteered much of his time to Wings of Hope and American Legion Post 312. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and belonged to the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. Most of all, he was the greatest husband, father, and grandfather.

Memorials may be made in Richard's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wings of Hope, or Shriners Hospital.

candle 7I had the pleasure to work with Dick at Ozark Airlines and have nothing but fond memories. I was a young technician and he was the veteran inspector. I learned a lot from him and am forever grateful. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to share his knowledge if you asked him. I even had the pleasure of playing golf with him once. Rest in Peace Dick.

Dick was a very good and decent man. Kathy and I knew him from Goldwing Road Riders. Dick was kind-hearted, friendly, and always willing to give a person the benefit of his vast mechanical knowledge. We will miss him. Rest in peace Dick.

Dad loved the road trips! Even if it was to go to a truck stop and have pie. Thank you both for the thoughtful words.
