Philip Ryan Gift died on September 4, 2018 in O’Fallon, Missouri. He was 32.
Philip was born on August 1, 1986 in Sumter, SC. He grew up in a military family, lived on both coasts, and spent three years in the United Kingdom. He graduated from Klahowya Secondary School in 2005 in Seabeck Washington. After graduating, Philip worked in numerous restaurants as a cook, and loved to share those cooking skills with his friends and family. He loved Seattle, and spending time in the city and in nature.
Phil was always the life of the party with his quirky sense of humor making everyone around him laugh and feel welcome. Board games were our ultimate family competition, and he always cut through the competition to make it fun and light-hearted. Classic rock and Christian music were his favorites. He loved to read, and was always sharing his new favorite book recommendations with his family.
Philip accepted Christ as his Savior in 1996, and through the ups and downs of life, recommitted his life to Christ in early 2017. We received encouragement through the scriptures he shared with us all the time.
In January 2018 he moved to O’Fallon, Missouri to restart his life and reconnect with his family. He was hired as a production line employee at Alpla, but was quickly promoted to machinist. He was extremely proud to have found a job that he excelled at and his efforts were recognized.
Philip is survived by his parents Bob and Annette, and sisters Megan and Angela. He will be remembered in a private ceremony on September 8, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please donate money or physical items to The Salvation Army. They helped him in the past through tough times, and he would have appreciated helping others through their charity.
