Paul Robert Telker, age 86, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away on August 20, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born on January 4, 1933 in Malden MO; the oldest of two sons of the late Fidelis and Wanda (nee Lockaby) Telker. Loving husband of Barbara H. Telker; beloved son of the late Fidelis Paul and Wanda Lee Telker; devoted father of Robert Loyd (Mary) Telker, Roger Keith (Christa) Telker, and Renee Elizabeth (the late Dan) Wulf; cherished grandfather of Daren Telker, Lauren (Larry) Pfeffer, Cameron Telker, Clayton Wulf, Brendan Telker, Nick Wulf, Josh Telker, Katie Telker, and Garret Telker; treasured great-grandfather of Evelyn. Preceded in death by Son, Ryan Paul Telker; and brother, David Telker.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Ward on August 12, 1956. Together they had four children, three boys and one girl. Ryan Telker, Renee Wulf, Roger (Christa) Telker, and Robert (Mary) Telker. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Paul served in the Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1954, stationed in Germany.
Paul attended Southeast Missouri State, where he met Barbara. Then Arkansas State University, and University of Missouri-Columbia, where he earned a master’s degree in Education. He then began a long career in the Education field, teaching at St Louis Central Highschool, and then at Kirkwood School District as teacher and counselor. Eventually, Paul became a widely known fulltime teacher’s representative and leader for the Missouri State Teachers Association and then Missouri National Education Association. He had a long and enjoyable career of serving teachers and the teaching profession throughout Missouri. He finally retired for good at the age of 75.
Paul and Barbara love to host parties with family and friends. They have also owned properties at Lake of the Ozarks and enjoyed their many times at the lake. Paul also loved playing rowdy card games with his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Paul's name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
