Ollie Hunt

Ollie Hunt, of Lake Saint Louis, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the age of 87. Beloved significant other of the late Shirley Darby; cherished son of the late Oliver Clarence Hunt and Agnes Simpson Hunt. Devoted father of Chris (Joan) Hunt, Randy (Joan) Hunt, Diane Hunt (John) Luth, and Rob Hunt; loving grandfather of Jessica (Cliff) Jessop, Erin Luth, Rachel (fiancé Ben Mizera) Hunt, Jack Luth, and Lauren Hunt; treasured great-grandfather of Ryan Jessop; Ollie is also survived by his step children, Deanne (Steve) Drassen, Jerry (Susan) Darby, Alan  (Mary-Jean) Darby, and their children and extended family; and cousin of Marty (Bert) Miller.

Ollie grew up in Nokomis, IL. After serving in the military, Ollie worked at the Nokomis Free-Press newspaper before enrolling in SIU Carbondale and working for the SIU Carbondale Press. He then took a position with Western Publishing in Cambridge, Maryland. Ollie later transferred to the St. Louis area where he lived the rest of his life.

Ollie proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a long-time member of the Lake St. Louis Community Association and Official Little League Baseball. Ollie loved Cardinals baseball, was an avid golfer, he enjoyed wildlife, and especially feeding his birds. Ollie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family request that memorials may be made in Ollie's name to the World Bird Sanctuary or Boys Town of Missouri in St. James.
