Nancy E. Harris
April 24, 1950 — August 3, 2017
Nancy E. Harris (nee: Boydell) born April 24, 1950 in Nyssa OR, passed away on August 3, 2017 at the home of her daughter in St. Peters, MO after a battle with cancer.
She received a BA in English and a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction.
Nancy was a teacher of middle school children for 20 years in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, retiring in 2011. She loved teaching and her students and proved to be a successful teacher.
Many hobbies were enjoyed by Nancy. She loved to read, knit crochet, cross-stitch and pursue her genealogy. Many happy hours were spent at the bridge table, playing party bridge and duplicate bridge. Over the years she enjoyed the company of long-time friends and made many new friends.
Nancy was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Charles, MO and was active in the prayer shawl ministry and bible study until her health no longer allowed it. She was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, a national honor society, Order of the Eastern Star and the NEA.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Edward and Otillia Boydell and brother James Boydell. Surviving are her children, Christopher (Angela) Harris of Olivette MO, Jo Anne Harris of St. Peters, MO and Amy Harris of Springfield, MO. She is also survived by a grandson, Arthur Harris, a brother, Kent (Cherie) Boydell of Moscow ID and a niece, Heather (Boydell) Walter of Seattle WA and a cousin Ron (Marie) Smith. As an animal lover, Bailey, her beagle mix dog will miss her. He has been her faithful companion for six years.
Many thanks to BJC Hospice, especially Dawn, Nicki, Vicky and Patrick for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time. A special thank you to the many friends who visited Nancy, prayed for her, kept her laughing and provided food.
Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 318 S. Duchesne Dr., St. Charles MO on August 12, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden at Trinity Episcopal Church following the service. Please join the family at a reception at Trinity immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden or the Missouri Humane Society.
