Melvin Eugene “Gene” Latham of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the age of 90. Dearest husband of Pat Latham, and the late Bernice Latham (36 years), and the late Eileen Latham (22 years); cherished son of the late Melvin and Maude Latham; devoted father of Sherl (Gene) Myers, Sharon (Rick) Rogala; loving grandfather of Amanda (Kraig) Kubicek, Erin (Brooks) Green, Bryan (Sarah) Rogala, and Lauren Rogala; loving step-father of Hollie Sobelman, Robyn (Tony) Clark, Joyce (Furcin) Georges, and Sandy Rother; cherished grandfather of many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear brother of Raymond (the late Betty) Latham, Bob (Cindy) Latham, Audrey Johnson, Bud (Joyce) Latham, Barbara (Bo) Hoskins, Larry (Wanda) Latham, and Lloyd (Donna) Latham. Gene is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Gene proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of St. Charles County Association of Realtors, and a member of Highland View Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and watching Cardinals baseball, and is remembered by his family for his perpetual smile, and his loving and generous spirit. Gene cherished most of all, time spent with family, especially gatherings at the family lake house. Gene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
