Mary Melda Joyce Samuels Embry passed into her Savior’s arms on September 4, 2019, three (3) weeks prior to her 92nd birthday.
Mary was born September 24, 1927, to Oliver Brenton and Ada Ward Samuels in St. Francis, AR. She was blessed with 10 brothers and sisters.
At the age of sixteen, Mary moved from Arkansas to Campbell, MO, to attend high school and live with Curly and Ellen Broom who agreed to provide room and board in exchange for babysitting their two young sons. It was a perfect match as Mary came to love this family. After graduation from high school Mary began work in Piggott, AR, where she met her future husband, O’Connell “Neil” Embry at a community-wide dance. The two were married on December 25, 1947, and began their new life together in St. Louis.
Mary loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, church choir member and volunteer. After raising her children, Mary opened and successfully managed her own consignment shop, “Nu-To-U”, which combined two of her loves—fashion and meeting new people.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Neil. She is deeply loved and survived by her youngest brother, Ezra Carlos Samuels of Paris, KY., and her children, Bradley W. Embry and wife Mary of Wentzville, MO, Neika Embry Whittemore and husband Alan of South Pasadena, CA, Nelene Rambin and husband Neil of Dallas, TX and Nona Embry of Wilmington, NC. Her surviving grandchildren include Sonya Mitts and husband Jake of Troy, MO, Erika Samson and husband Jimmy of Washington, MO, Lauren Pupillo and husband Tony of Lisle, IL, Mehgen Hutchcraft and husband Erik of Winfield, MO, Cole Soisson and wife Stephanie of Spring Bluff, MO, Jordan Embry of West Palm Beach, FL, Stephen Rambin of New York, NY and Conner Rambin of Dallas, TX.
