Mary Ann Hunstein

Mary Ann Hunstein, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of her family.  Wife of 48 years to the late Stanley Hunstein; beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Cecelia McGee; devoted mother of Marcia (Daryl) Keith, Gayle (Edward) Anderson, Mark (Jacque) Hunstein, and Scott Hunstein; cherished grandmother of Matthew Anderson (Andrea Kohnen), Lindsay (Brant) Steck, Casey (Dan) Sullivan, and Michael Anderson (Ashley Robinson); treasured great-grandmother of Erin Anderson, Whitley Steck, Dominic Anderson, Griffin Steck, Mollie Sullivan, Aria Anderson, and Ryan Sullivan; dear sister-in-law of Carol McGee; and aunt to Mike, Christine and John McGee.  Mary Ann was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas McGee, Rosemary McGee, and Danny McGee.

Mary Ann was a loving and devoted mother. When her children were young, the house was always full of their friends; and she was known by most of them as “Mom.”  As much as she enjoyed her role as a mother, she flourished as a grandmother and great-grandmother.   No matter their ages, her babies were her world.

Mary Ann had many pets through the years and loved all types of animals.  Some might say she didn’t have much choice in the matter, because her kids brought home a never-ending parade of wounded and stray critters.

As a young woman, Mary Ann was fortunate to meet and work with a wonderful group of women, who formed a friendship that has continued for more than 70 years.  She will be remembered as a sweet, caring and thoughtful friend.

Before relocating to O’Fallon, Missouri, Mary Ann had been a long-time parishioner at St. Aloysius Church in Spanish Lake.  After her move, she was welcomed into the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church family.

Mary Ann was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ann's name to Wounded Warriors or St. Louis Children's Hospital.
