Martha W. Middleton (nee: Johnson), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the age of 79. Loving wife of 60 years to the late William Paul Middleton; beloved daughter of the late Elec and Ella Johnson; devoted mother of Pauletta Garland, Tony (Jennifer) Middleton, Ronald (Corey) Middleton, Pamela (Jon) Gibbs, and Michael Middleton; cherished grandmother of Meagan Garland, Catherine Garland, Jessica LaBonte, Courtney LaBonte, Cole Middleton, Ashley (Ryan) McNamara, Joshua Middleton, Mallory Sommer, and Madelin Sommer; treasured great-grandmother of Alexis, Danika, Willow, Aaiden, Dylan, Jazlyn, Hailey, Madelyn, Sophie, Gage, and Martha; dearest sister of Harold (Glenda) Johnson, Virginia (the late Cecil) Crum, Lovana (Phillip) Cooper, Steve (Darlene) Johnson, and the late Eugene Johnson.
Martha retired after more than 40 years as a Full Charge Bookkeeper. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University. She loved gospel music and performed with her family for many years as the Twin City Gospel Singers. She was a southern cook who cooked everything in a cast-iron skillet, and she made the best gravy around. Martha enjoyed sewing and making costumes for her son and The Patt Holt Singers. Spending time with her family was the ultimate gift she received, and they spent many camping trips together at Lake Timberline. She also loved reading, and Harlequin romance novels were her favorite. Martha was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
