Marilyn Ruth Thaemert

July 27, 1940 — July 1, 2020

Marilyn Ruth Thaemert - July 27, 1940 to July 1, 2020

I was born Marilyn Ruth Berndt on July 27, 1940 to Clarence and Thekla Berndt in Chicago, Illinois. I was baptized August 11, 1940 at Grace English Lutheran Church.  We lived 3 years in Chicago, then moved to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin for three years before moving to Chester, Illinois. I attended all my grade school years at St. John Lutheran School and two years of high school in Chester, Illinois.  In 1956 our family moved to Denver Colorado and we attended St. John’s Lutheran Church.  My Jr. and Sr. years were spent at Denver Lutheran High.  In 1958 I went to St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas where I met Ferol Thaemert my future husband.  I graduated with an A.A. degree and transferred to Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois.  After graduating in 1962 with a B.S. in Education. We were married in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I was assigned to Salem Lutheran Church and School.  I taught second and third grades for two years before our three children, Angela, Kirk and Kent were born.  I resumed my teaching career again in 1975 teaching preschool for 23 years and kindergarten for 4 years before retiring in 2002.  We have enjoyed traveling to Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S. while wintering in Florida in our R.V. I departed to my heavenly home on July 1, 2020.

She is survived by her beloved husband Ferol; three children Angela (Tim) Parr, Kirk (Karen) Thaemert, Kent (Beth) Thaemert; eight grandchildren Tyler, Jeremy (Kaylee), Rachel, Scott, Sarah, Emily, Philip, and Maggie; brothers Clarence Berndt and Charles (June) Berndt, sister Dorothy (John) Felten.

She is dearly loved and will be missed greatly, but we have the assurance that we will see her again in heaven with our Savior.

Memorials may be made in Marilyn's name to Heit's Point Lutheran Ministries, 28345 Heits Point Ave, Lincoln, MO 65338, or at www.heitspoint.com.
