Mae LaVerne Schneider

Mae LaVerne Schneider (nee Pollard), of Lake St. Louis, MO died on November 15, 2020 at the age of 92.  LaVerne was born and raised in Old Monroe, MO and lived in OFallon and Lake St. Louis. She was the loving wife of Clarence Schneider for 70 years, beloved daughter of the late Earl and Gertrude (Hutton) Pollard, dear sister of the late Delbert (Evelyn) Pollard; devoted mother of four daughters:  Kathy (Rick) Rodamaker, Sueann (Richard) Rice, Vicki (Terry) Briggs, and Lisa (Buddy) Schaefer; cherished Grandmother of 17 and Great Grandmother of 34 with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

LaVerne was an office secretary for Helmuth Dallmeyer Insurance right out of Highschool for 8 years.  She was a homemaker while raising her four daughters and also supported all of Clarence’s entrepreneurial businesses over the years from Schneider Electric, Schneider Tree Nursery, Clar-Vern Apartments and Clar-Vern Farms.  Once all of the girls were school age she worked outside the home as an Executive Secretary at Conductron/McDonnell Douglas for 18 years until her retirement.

LaVerne raised her family in her Catholic faith and they attended all Catholic schools and church.  She was very active in her parishes of Assumption of the BVM parish and St. Barnabas.

Outside of raising children, and working, LaVerne was a huge Cardinal fan. Her and Clarence attended spring training in Florida annually and never missed a game either at Bush Stadium or on TV.  LaVerne loved to travel with friends and family and most especially Cruising.  She enjoyed boating on the Mississippi on their cruiser, on their houseboat on Mark Twain Lake, and on their Pontoon at their lakefront home in Lake St. Louis. Her and Clarence were avid dancers from Ballroom, and Country to Square Dancing.  LaVerne loved to play cards with family and friends especially Pinochle, Rummy, and Euchre. LaVerne and Clarence were also active members of the OFallon American Legion.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alzheimer Association, Disabled Athlete Sports Association (Nathan Franklin’s physical therapy), or Masses.
