Kay Marie (Carpenter) Bonney, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in O’Fallon. Born on August 7, 1936 in St. Louis, to Raymond Carpenter and Helen (Kipp) Carpenter. She met her husband, Robert (Bob) Bonney, in typing class at Piedmont (Mo) High School. The students were seated alphabetically, so Kay sat between Bob Bonney and her best friend Wanda (Darden) DeForest.
Kay and Bob were married on February 3, 1957 in Piedmont. The marriage was blessed with three sons, Bobby (Rebecca) Bonney, Sam Bonney, and Stephen Bonney. They welcomed four grandchildren, Samuel, Kelly, Rachel, and Steven. In time, they also welcomed five great grandchildren. Samuel and Melissa gave them Ryan and Reagan, Steven and Breann gave them Nolan, Rachel and Michael gave them Isabella, and Kelly and Zachary gave them Briar.
Kay made their home in St Charles for many years, raising her sons and helping raise her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Kay loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and she never let an umpire or referee get away with a bad call.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Bob Bonney, her brother Joe Carpenter who sang at her wedding, her sons Bobby and Sam, and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Stephen.
