John Hugon Fowler

December 7, 1924 — December 19, 2018

John Hugon Fowler of O’Fallon, Missouri (formerly of St. Louis, MO, Eldridge, MO, Lebanon, MO, Huntington Beach, CA, and St. Paul, MO), was called home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the age of 94. Loving husband of the late Doris J. Fowler (nee Daughetee); cherished son of the late Raymond E. and Alma Fowler (nee Hugon); devoted father of John “Jack” (Marietta, nee Schwendemann) Fowler; treasured grandfather of Michael J. (Heather Sky, nee: McKeever) Fowler, David A. (Ruth Ann, nee, Suddarth) Fowler, and Eric T. Fowler; loving great-grandfather of Elias "River" McKeever Fowler.

John is preceded in death by his sister Edna Ellen Fowler, and brother Raymond Fowler, Jr.

John was a World War II Veteran, who faithfully and honorably served with the U.S. Army 29th Division, Company B, 104th Medical Battalion as a Combat Medic, who fought bravely at the first landing Normandy Beach on D-Day, and was a proud recipient of the Bronze Star. John also received the Knight of the Legion of Honor Medal from the Consulate General De France. He was a devoted member of the Northwest Kiwanis Club of St. Louis, Missouri, and was also an active member of Camdenton United Methodist Church. John was also a talented woodworker, who enjoyed building furniture, and he loved to play the harmonica. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, and his dedication to helping others, especially children in need. John was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in John’s honor to the Elsberry Health Center, or Kindred Hospice of Troy, MO.
