John Charles Dowdall, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of 15 years to Doris Dowdall, his first wife of 43 years, the late D. Marie (Short) Dowdall and his second wife of 10 years to the late Rayma (Graves) Dowdall . Beloved son of the late John Henry and Vera (Kasden) Dowdall; dear brother of the late Bernice Walker. Devoted father of Dennis Dowdall (Jackie), David Dowdall and Tim Dowdall (Dawn); stepfather of Connie (Dan) Short, Karen (Dave) Engle, Dennis (Tina) Kasden, and Nancy (Mark) Denney; grandfather of Suzanne, Lauren, Kyle, Courtney, Aaron, Lucas, Jordan, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Marissa, Glen, Bob, Jon, Brianna and Gunnar. Cherished uncle of Bill Walker and the late Jonnie Lee Holloway Walker.
John was born in St. Louis, Missouri November 6, 1927 to John and Vera Dowdall.
John served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Iowa BB61 Battleship in World War II. John loved being a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, he also loved hunting and fishing with his Dad & Mom. He enjoyed sports and tried out for pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals & New York Giants. He enjoyed bowling and was on many teams. John was a dedicated employee of Hensley Construction and Self Employed for 47 years as a Union Carpenter achieving the 70-year pin. John was a member of the American Legion Post 313 and Masonic Order 241 in St. Charles. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
