John Booth Martin

John Booth Martin, of Florissant, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the age of 90.  Beloved son of the late John J. and Florence Martin; devoted father of John C. Martin and Robert M. (Annette) Martin; and cherished grandfather of Sarah Nicole Martin and Carly Elizabeth Martin.  John was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane (Ken) Sadler; and his significant other, Barbara Gonzalez.  He was also survived by the children of Barbara Gonzalez; Janelle (Dan) Walters, Marco Gonzalez, Steve Gonzalez, and Jeff Gonzalez.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He later became a member of the American Legion Post 444.  He was also a member of the Free Masons of Algabil-Freedom No. 636 AF & AM.  He was a true patriot through and through, and he always honored the symbol and representation of the American Flag and taught his sons the importance of that as well.

John began his engineering career at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, and he retired from bioMerieux after 20 years with the company.  He loved engineering, science, tinkering, and learning how things were made.  He usually took something apart just to put it back together again so he knew how it functioned.

John had a passion for cars, driving them, working on them, and also taking the engine apart and putting it back together.  He enjoyed flying, and he had his pilot's license and even got a chance to fly the Crazy Horse, a restored P-51.  He also liked to travel, and has been to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, Alaska, and the Bahamas.

John loved comedy and could often be found watching one of his favorites, including Richard Prior, WC Fields, Steve Martin, or Mel Brooks.  He also loved music, and he was most passionate about listening to Andre` Rieu.

John will be remembered for his great sense of humor and how he loved to laugh.  He was a very generous man and was always there for his family, and anyone in need.  Above all else, family was the most important thing to him, and he always cherished the time he spent with them.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Parkinson's Disease.
