John A. Hoormann, 97, passed away peacefully at his home on May 22, 2018.

He began his life on May 20, 1921 as the son of Anton J. and Elizabeth (Derhake) Hoormann in Florissant, MO. John proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He married Adele B. Koester in 1948 and was blessed with 7 children.

John moved his family to a farm in Old Monroe in 1959 and made it his home for the rest of his life. He was a humble servant of God as he worked the fields; always praying his Rosary to honor the Blessed Mother.

He is survived by his children: Joseph, Susan, Marie, Alma, Marion and Jane; and his loving sisters, Sr. Rose Philippine, CSJ and Sr. Agnes, RSCJ; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is sharing his eternal life with his parents, wife Adele, and daughter, Dorothy; along with his brothers, Art, Tony and Harry and all his relatives and friends.

And he is still praying his Rosary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or memorials made to Academy of the Sacred Heart Endowment Fund or Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet Building Fund.

candle 8Our sympathies to all of Uncle John’s family. We knew him as a very kind and caring person. He truly loved all of God’s creation and showed this in his devotion to farming his land. Uncle John wrote letters to my Mom after both of their spouses passed away and she always looked forward to a letter from Uncle John. He will be missed by many. Sincerely, Ruth Ann and Ronnie

candle 3JOE AND FAMILY, I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I SENT A CARD WHEN I HAD SEEN THAT DOROTHY HAD PASSED BUT IT WAS RETURNED BECAUSE OF INSUFFICIENT ADDRESS. IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW, DANNY PASSED AWAY NOVEMBER, 2014 AND DUE TO MISUNDERSTANDINGS THERE WAS NO OBITUARY. SEAN AND I WERE GOING TO CALL BUT GOT CAUGHT UP IN A LOT OF THINGS AND FORGOT. SEAN LIVES IN LAS VEGAS NOW AND ALSO HAS A GRANSON WHO WAS BORN IN APRIL. SO I AM A GREAT GRANDMA NOW !! I STILL LIVE ON NORTH 7TH STREET. I ALSO HEARD THAT DIANE (WAS WITH DANNY)) HAD PASSED AWAY RECENTLY. I PRAY THAT THE LORD BE WITH ALL OF YOU DURING THIS TIME AND ALWAYS. JANIE MOYER
