Joani Maria Marschel Madden, age 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. Joani was born on July 22nd, 1959 to Kenneth and Eleanor Marschel. She married her beloved husband and best friend, John C. Madden, on April 11th, 1987. Even after 31 years together, she wished she had found him sooner so she could love him longer. Joani was the devoted mother to twin sons Joseph (Shannon) and Jacob (Kaitlyn) Madden and loving Nonna to Jaxon, Taylor, and Everett Madden. She is also survived by her dear companion, Mia Bella, her cat. Joani leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, unwavering faith, and selfless sacrifice. She was the glue that held her family together. Her heart and home were always open to “famiglia”, including her five stepchildren, friends, and several grandchildren whom she cherished immeasurably. A true nurturer, Joani’s greatest passions included spoiling her family and spending quality time with those she loved. She especially enjoyed cooking and was famous among friends and family for sharing her delicious chocolate chip cookies and fettuccine. She treasured family vacations to Destin, FL and never missed a soccer game played by her boys. She was a proud member of Assumption Parish where she will be laid to rest overlooking their soccer fields as an eternal reminder of beautiful memories with her sons. Joani will be deeply missed, and never forgotten. Her positivity and passion for giving will live on in the many hearts she has touched. To celebrate and honor Joani’s life, a Wake will be held at the O’Fallon Baue Funeral Home on Sunday September 9th from 4-8pm, with Mass at Assumption Church in O’Fallon, MO on Monday September 10th at 11am, followed by her burial.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
“We cannot see her, but she is with us still.
A Mother like ours is more than a memory.
