James “Jim” M. Engel

James "Jim" M. Engel of Bridgeton, MO, passed away at the age of 73 on Monday, July 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Engel; and his siblings, the late Larry Edwards and Millie Miller.

Jim is survived by his wife, Therese Engel; his son, Jimmy H.; his brothers, Don (the late Mary) Edwards and John (Sheila) Engel; and he was a dear uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend to many.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy, on the U.S.S. Hancock. Beloved husband of Therese' Engel for 33 years. Jim worked for St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, Creve Coeur, MO for 43 years in the Facilities dept. in many capacities, including Hospital Representative for Construction projects. He touched the hearts of all he met and made a lasting impact on their lives. Always warm, helpful to others, and caring, Jim was a natural storyteller who simply loved talking to people and getting to know them – he truly never met a stranger. He had a fantastic sense of humor and was quick with a joke more often than not. There was a special place in his heart for animals and he cared for many over the years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

The family invites you to join them on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Baue, Cave Springs at 9:45am to join them in procession to go to a graveside service at St. Charles Memorial Gardens. A map regarding the location can also be found below.
