Scott, James J. (Jim) (Scotty)
Passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 19, 2018. He was the son of the late William M. Scott Sr. and Myrtle I. Scott (Dixon).
He is survived by his loving wife, best friend and soul mate Carolyn Scott; daughters, Kelly Barton (Tim) of Warrenton, MO, Kimberly Overkamp (Terry) of O’Fallon, MO, Denise Crawford of Wentzville, MO; son, Jay Thornton of Campbell, MO; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with twins due in December; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Scott Jr.; and two great grandchildren.
He lost his 5 ½ year battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was an inspiration to many and was an advocate for patient care. He enjoyed his volunteered time at Siteman Cancer Center St. Peters, talking with the patients and assisting with the touch therapy dogs.
Jim was a retiree of Laclede Gas in St. Louis and a 20-year employee of the Warrenton Golf Course. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1959. He loved golf, hunting, and especially loved crappie fishing with his wife. He loved spending time with his family, especially at the annual fish fry. He met with friends and fellow Veterans every Thursday at the Dog Prairie and enjoyed the company and camaraderie.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a life member of the St. Charles Co. Marine Corps League, life member of VFW Post 5077 O’Fallon, MO, life member of Amvets Post 106 St. Peters, MO, and life member of the St. Louis Chapter 1 Marine Division.
