Ivan Oliver Mead

A private memorial service will be held at St. Charles Memorial Garadens for Ivan O. Mead who passed away September 21, 2007. Born in Goodland, Indiana January 4, 1920, Ivan graduated from Purdue University in 1941 with a degree in mechanical engineering and served in World War II as a LT. JG in the Pacific aboard the battleship USS South Dakota. His professional career was spent at McDonnell Aircraft Corporation where he took part in the space program and later with the Department of Army Aviation Systems Command. Celebrating his life are his wife of 61 years, Margaret; four children, one nephew, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ivan was a moderately good golfer, an accomplished bridge player and a meticulous restorer of vintage MG model A's. He was a quiet man but very proud of all his family. We will miss him.
