***Due to inclement weather, the services for Helen Martin have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 12***Helen “Dodie” Martin of O'Fallon, Missouri, passed away at the age of 78 on Monday, February 4, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Stella Sutton; two brothers, Howard (Marilyn) Sutton and Vernon Sutton; and a sister, Rose Warncke.
She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Donald G. Martin; her sons, Kevin (Denise) Martin and Gregory (Cathy) Martin; her grandchildren, Scott (Nikki) Martin, Heather (Blair) Steighorst, Kayla (Andy) Lucas, Todd (Ciara) Martin, and Chad (Fallon) Martin; seven great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Virginia Mitchell and Norman (Anna Lee) Sutton.
Helen “Dodie” loved life, she spent countless days on the beaches of Marco Island collecting shells or simply enjoying the sunset. Dodie and Don were lucky enough to travel the United States and other countries of the world. Yellowstone was always one of her favorite destinations. She equally loved time at her lake home with friends and family. Dodie stayed close with friends from her small childhood town in Iron County throughout her life. She was a member of the group fondly named the “Ooga Booga’s,” together they enjoyed travels, many laughs, meals, and memories of great times.
Helen was a member of the Dardenne Presbyterian Church. She had a fulfilling career working many years in customer service. She spent her retirement enjoying the company of her family and friends.
She was well loved and will be dearly missed.
