Harry Woodhouse, Jr., 82, of O’Fallon, MO, formerly of Theodosia, MO, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda (Beard) Woodhouse, two children: Debbie Kuegler (Steve) and Alan Woodhouse (Julie). He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Ashley Kuegler, Bryce Kuegler, Ian Woodhouse and Jeff Woodhouse; three sisters, Betty Szymecko, Olive Small, and Donna Epley (Larry). And many beloved nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry Woodhouse, Sr. and Agnes (Muir) Woodhouse and brothers, Bruce and Roland and sister, Dorothy O’Malley; his nephews Harold and John Woodhouse, and Kevin O’Mally.
Harry was born in Taylorville, IL and raised in Nokomis, IL. After leaving high school he served in the U.S. Navy from May 1952 until May 1955 and the U.S. Air Force from July 1958 until September 1960. He met his wife, Wanda Beard while stationed in Fort Worth, TX. They were married on December 2, 1960.
Harry spent the majority of his career with McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing). He retired in 1996. He earned his bachelor degree in physics from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
After retirement Harry and Wanda moved to Theodosia, MO where he continued to do woodworking and completed many projects. His handiwork can be seen at the United Methodist Church where he was a long time member and at the homes of family, friends and neighbors.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 12-3 p.m. at 7001 Brassel Drive, O’Fallon, MO 63368. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or The BackStoppers Inc., P.O. Box 795168, St. Louis, MO 63179-0700.
