Harriette L. Wayne

October 7, 1936 — February 17, 2021

Harriette L. Wayne (nee Lee), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Archie L. Wayne; cherished daughter of the late James and Harriette Lee. Devoted mother of Gregory Wayne, Cynthia (Wayne) Jackson, Sandra (Wayne) Bichel, David Wayne, and the late Stephen L. Wayne; loving grandmother of Anastacia (Wayne) Huggins, Jessica (Bichel) Ermeling, Bradley Bichel, Tyler Wayne, Alicia (Wayne) Harkness, Adam Jackson, Corey Bichel, Zoe Jackson, Adrienne Jackson; treasured great-grandmother of Ella Ermeling, Nora Ermeling, Owen Ermeling,Payton Harkness, Janes Bichel, and Lucy Wayne; dear sister of the late James Lee, the late Mary (Lee) Kliment, the late Esther Lee, the late Doris (Lee) Prince, and the late Thomas Lee. Cherished sister of Helen (Lee) Dauve.

Harriette was married for almost 65 years to her best friend, Arch. Harriette was a woman of many interests; she enjoyed sewing, bowling, golf, crafts, playing cards, and lunch with her favorite Beaumont High School Girls, aka BG's. She loved traveling; Harriette and Arch were known to pack up the car with their 5 kids and drive around the country camping and visiting state and national parks, later visiting places like Hawaii, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. She enjoyed cooking for her family and planning events to get everyone together. Harriette was a woman of faith and a devout catholic. She was very involved with her CHIRP group through St. Charles Borromeo as well as a greeter at the door with hugs for everyone who entered; she never knew a stranger and had a place in her heart for everyone. For 25 years, Harriette was a beautician and proudly owned her own shop, Snip and Curl Salon. Cutting hair was a delight for her and she continued to do so for her friends and family late into her life. She was unstoppable; at the age of 75, after a successful battle with colon cancer, Harriette and Archie went on a mission trip to Mexico. Harriette's compassion was boundless; she started a Christmas luminary tradition in her neighborhood which not only looked beautiful but, more importantly, gave her a chance to get out and get to know her neighbors. Her dancing spirit and her caring nature were infectious; she was a proud wife, mother, and sister and she adored her title as Mommy, Mop, Grandma, G. G. for Great Grandma. Harriette was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Harriette's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association; St. Charles Borromeo.
