Gus was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in Ferguson, MO.
Gus loved spending time with his family, and his extended family and grandchildren at family parties and holidays. His favorite holiday was Christmas and decorating the outside of the house for the Christmas display of lights. He enjoyed playing horseshoes with his brothers and friends.
In 1943 he was drafted into the US Army reported for basic training at Camp Roberts, CA. He was sent over seas and went to Omaha Beach. He was honorably discharged from the US Army on 12-11-1944. He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. Private Vogelsang was a brave and loyal soldier.
He will be remembered for his great smile and how he loved to laugh.
A father and Veteran who was loved and admired for all that you’ve done. There’s a feeling of pride in just thinking of you.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gus’ honor to the
Alzheimer's Association.
