Greg Ezzell

September 14, 1947 — October 2, 2020

Greg Ezzell, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at the age of 73. Loving husband of 22 years to Marla Gilliam; beloved son of the late Jean Lay; devoted father of Tracey (Ryan White) West, Stacey Ezzell, Joe (Michelle) Ezzell, Stephanie (Travis) Hildebrand, Andrea (Jesse) Meade, Veronica Gilliam, Nathaniel Gilliam, and Alicia Gilliam; stepfather of Monica Gilliam and David Gilliam, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Lindsay West, Taylor West, Lochlan Ezzell, Rowan Ezzell, Leah Hildebrand, Savannah Hildebrand, and Jackson Meade; dear brother of Allyson (Randy) Seber, Vanessa Miller, Guy Ezzell, and Gary Ezzell; beloved cousin of Betty (Sonny) Kincheloe and Randy (Sue) McCormack.

Greg proudly served his country with honor in the United States Air Force.  Greg and Marla were members of SunRise United Methodist Church.  Greg received his master’s in social work from University of Missouri, Columbia.  He worked for Division of Youth Services working with adolescents and their families for 30+ years.  After he retired from Division of Youth Services, he worked for Preferred Family Healthcare for several years.  There he also worked with adolescents and their families.  He was well known for his wit and always having a smile on his face. He had the ability to teach his clients the skills needed to help turn their lives around. He enriched the lives of many. Greg loved all sports, but especially the St. Louis Cardinals.  He also loved watching his children in whatever sport or activity they were participating in.  Time with family was a top priority for Greg. One of Greg’s strongest traits was his unconditional love for everyone.  He was one of the best encouragers ever.  This was true whether it was a client, co-worker, friend, or family. Greg and his wife, Marla, loved to sit out on their patio and enjoy their beautiful flowers, especially their Moon Flowers which they counted every night.  There will never be a person with a bigger giving heart than Greg.  He will be missed.

Memorial contributions may be made in Greg's honor to SSM Hospice or Mid America Transplant.
