Grace Louise Sweeney

Grace Louise Sweeney (nee Weishaupl), of Tahlequah, OK, peacefully passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the age of 95. She was residing at the Cherokee County Nursing and Rehab facility in Tahlequah after a major surgery.

Grace was born on January 7, 1926, to William and Louise Weishaupl in Denver CO. She left Denver at the age of 17 with two girlfriends to look for a job in Omaha NE. There she met and fell in love with the late husband, Cecil Sweeney. They married and lived in Pratt, KS until moving to St. Charles, MO in 1950. In 1971, they moved to Camarillo, CA for a few years and then back to St. Charles. In 2003, Grace moved to Tahlequah to live near her surviving son, Mark. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Tara Smith, Hannah Sweeney, Corey Kinsey; her great-grandchildren, Trenton Smith, Trista Smith, Tanner Smith, and Cael Kinsey; and her niece, Cindy Walbridge. She is also predeceased by her husband, Cecil Sweeney and oldest son, Steve Sweeney.

Grace was a loving and happy mother who enjoyed raising her sons. In the early 60s, she went to work as a legal secretary in St. Charles. She excelled at her work and later became a leader in the Legal Secretary Association.

Grace was an avid card player and especially enjoyed Bridge. She loved spending time with her family and traveling. She had a great sense of humor and anyone who met Grace absolutely loved her.

Memorials may be made in Grace 's name to Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
