Gloria J. Dickherber

Gloria J. Dickherber (nee Atkins), of Winfield, Missouri, passed away Saturday April 17, 2021 at the age of 77. Loving wife of Thomas Dickherber; beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Genevieve Atkins; devoted mother of Brian Meier, Gregory Meier, Brandon Meier, and Gina Mackay; cherished grandmother of Christopher Meier and Jacob Baxley; dear sister of Linda (Dale) Franklin and Tom (Pat) Atkins. Gloria is preceded in death by her brother, Fred Atkins and sister, Judy Tyson. Gloria also leaves behind her five well-loved spoiled rotten cats.

Gloria created a beautiful life with her husband, Tom in their Winfield home. She never met a cat she didn’t immediately let into her heart and home. She welcomed many cats during her lifetime and gave them all a special place in her heart. Her home and land were the ultimate animal sanctuary to all the lucky cats, dogs, turkeys, and deer that crossed her path. She cared about them all.

Gloria was a RN and spent many years caring for the residents at Mount Carmelite Nursing Home in St. Charles. She would write little notes on each patient’s likes/dislikes and personalities, so she could make them feel like they were more than patients, they were family. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed running, reading, and spending time in her yard. She was a parishioner of Assumption Church in O’Fallon, Missouri. She strived to be a godly woman and believed steadfastly in her faith.

Gloria loved her children and grandsons with her whole heart. She invested herself in them and was their biggest cheerleader. She cherished her time with them and supported them throughout her life. She will be missed by all as the ultimate cat sitter who spoiled rotten her grandcats.

Gloria has earned her heavenly wings after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. She was not ready to leave her family and cats but ultimately rest her faith in God’s hands. Gloria was dearly loved by her family, friends, and cats. She is already greatly missed.
