Geraldine “Geri” Delehanty (nee Warden), fortified with the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 87 with her family present. Loving wife of 68 years to Herbert Edward Delehanty, Sr.; devoted mother of Marian (Gerald) Davis, Carol (Gary) Rocca, Herbert Delehanty, Jr. (Sylvia O’Connor), Nancy (David) Hoffman, Janet Delehanty, and Joseph Delehanty; cherished grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of two; dear sister of Laverne "Pete" Warden. Geri is preceded in death by a granddaughter, two sisters and one brother.
While her family was growing, Geri managed the home and raised six children in East St. Louis, IL and St. Charles, MO. She was a loving mother and wife. After her children had grown, she used her sewing talent at a bridal shop for several years.
Geri was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, MO for 53 years where she was very active in both school and church activities. Throughout the years she was a member of many groups, including those that supported school functions. She was a member of the first Parish Council at St Joseph. She also belonged to the Women’s Sodality Group, numerous Bible Study Groups and served as an usher. Geri was a beautiful seamstress and used her talents to express her faith through the creation of priest vestments and altar cloths. Geri was known throughout Francis Howell High School as the woman who would make the uniforms for the Pom Pon Squad.
Geri loved to travel, both in the United States and abroad. She took many trips internationally to explore locations important to her Catholic faith. She was most proud of a trip to Rome where she saw Saint John Paul II.
Geri was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
