Gene Dale Knight

August 10, 1927 — January 12, 2010

Gene D. Knight, age 82, of St. Charles died January 12, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital due to complications of Leukemia and Pneumonia. He was born August 10, 1927 to Ruth and Clyde Knight in Crete, Nebraska. Gene was the beloved husband of 55 years of Shirley G. Knight (nee Shelton) deceased 2005, father of two sons Richard L. (Janice) of Lake St. Louis and Michael C. of Hazelwood, and brother of Beth (Walter P.) May of Spokane, Washington. Gene was a beloved husband, father, choral director and singer in the numerous church choirs and choral groups throughout the St. Louis area including the Cosmopolitan Singers, the Metropolitan Singers, the Missouri Choral Society and the Mark Twain Chorale. In 1985, Gene retired from the Aeronautical Chart and Information Center of the Federal Goverment. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended both First United Methodist and First Baptist Churches of St. Charles. His final years were made more enjoyable by the companionship of Patricia J. Stevens, who came into his life in 2006 and passed away in 2008. His body will be cremated at the Baue Crematory. Arrangements for a "Memorial Service" for Gene Knight have been made. The memorial service will be held on Saturday February 27th at the First United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301 (636-947-0066) at 12:00(noon). Interment will take place at St. Charles Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family prefers any memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to either church.
